For Hispanic Leadership

Hispanic Serving Institution is a federally recognized category designated by the U.S. Department of Education. To qualify as an HSI, a university or college must have a student body of at least 25% Hispanic. Institutions that meet this criterion are eligible for federal Title V grants designed to strengthen and enrich educational programs that support Latino students.
JMC aims to empower educational institutions, particularly Christian higher education schools, with the knowledge and tools to access these resources. Workshops are conducted twice to three times a year, focusing on the "why" and "how" of accessing HSI funding and its benefits.
The HSI initiative is part of the vision our founder, Dr. Jesse Miranda, set forth: “hearts ablaze and minds of flame.” He believed higher Christian education is a powerful equalizer for the Latino community. He envisioned a future where hearts were ablaze with passion and minds were ignited with knowledge. This convergence of spiritual zeal and intellectual pursuit embodies the intersection of Pentecostal theology with education, wisdom, and understanding.
